Today’s Workout: 1 mile run, PT exercises
Hope you all had a great weekend! I spent mine enjoying the sunshine, family, and great weather. Basically my weekend was full of running and eating really good food. Here’s some highlights I want to share with you!
RUNNING
My RW Summer Run Streak is still going strong: 7 days in a row! I think this is the longest running streak I’ve ever had, give or take a few days. My plan is to run 1 easy mile on what would normally be my “rest days” and its working out pretty well. Saturday I ran 3 miles on the streets (yay, no treadmill!) since it was so nice out. It wasn’t an easy run for some reason though, perhaps it was all the exercise I did on Friday that really wore me out. But either way, I finished Day 6!
Today I had very little energy for exercising since I haven’t really had a true rest day in a week. By the time the evening came I was reading on blogs and twitter about everyone extending their own running streaks and decided I really didn’t want to break my own. Not this early on anyway! So I got my lazy butt on the treadmill for one quick mile thankfully. Day 7 complete! The streak continues.
FOOD
There was lots of good food this weekend, most of it made by Karl. I’m so lucky to have a boyfriend who loves to cook and it actually really good at it. I think he missed his calling.. he needs to be a chef! I always tell him if he wants to practice recipes, I’ll be the taste-tester
So this weekend we had access to a grill and Karl decided to go all out and cook all day long. He made me and my family grilled pineapple and swordfish tacos with spicy mayo, pico de gallo, guacamole, and chips — all homemade! It was AMAZING.
We put all that deliciousness into taco form to eat. The only thing not homemade was the taco shells (thanks Ortego!) and the pineapple since we don’t grow our own here. Not sure they would even be able to grow in this crazy NYC weather. But we did grill those babies up on our own. Maybe its just me, but pineapple just tastes better grilled!
I also discovered this awesome Odwalla drink that I had for breakfast this weekend. In terms of texture, its basically a mix between juice and a smoothie and the flavor is great. You have got to try it, its awesome and there’s a ton of vitamins in it. So good!
EVERYTHING ELSE
Another exciting weekend event was that Karl got a bike (and hes loving it) and I think I picked out the one I’ll be getting!
Unlike Karl who is much more spontaneous that I am and bought his in about 10 minutes, I needed to take some time and do research. But I’m planning on contacting the bike store and telling them to hold onto it for me since he was giving me a good deal (better than online). I won’t show you which bike I’m planning on getting just yet but I’ll wait until the purchase is final. You’ll just have to wait and see!
I can’t wait to be riding around the city, this is long overdue!
How was your weekend? Tell me some details!
Did you have any great meals?

I noticed you had the Timex IronMan watch. I just got one.. have you noticed that when you look back at your splits after uploading it that it includes the time between pressing stop and start? Do you know if there is a way to change this? HELP!
Honestly I’ve had SO many problems with the watch I can’t even get it onto trainingpeaks to analyze it. Are you able to do that?
PS. Where are you seeing your splits? On the device agent thing or training peaks? I can’t even see the splits!
I already had a training peaks account so maybe that made a difference (I don’t pay for the premium version I go with the free account) I am looking at the splits on that. I can find them on the watch when I click mode over and over until I get to the “review” screen. My watch is a little bit different then yours – I think – Mine seems like the screen is a little bigger and maybe a little more square so I am not sure if it will all work the same.
Hm its so weird that mine doesn’t show my splits. I must be doing something wrong if the rest of the world is able to see it haha. I’ll have to sit down and work with the watch to figure it out. Hope you figure out the problem with your splits
Never mind – I think our watches are the same. I found this online that has more info than the watch came with: http://assets.timex.com/user_guides/W276_M878/W276_M878_RunTrainer_NA_EN.pdf I hope that helps!
Thanks girl!! I’ll have to sift through that and figure this all out finally.
I would love to get a bike, but it freaks me out too much to ride in the city! My brother keeps trying to convince me, because he loves it!
Haha it does freak me out a bit too but I’m pretty cautious so I think I’ll be fine. I also won’t be taking it to and from work or anything like that so it should be fine. Hopefully!
Yay a bike soon!!!! Can’t wait to hear about it
sounds like a good weekend, those tacos sound amazinggg!
Yea its so exciting
The tacos were SO good!
Again, you prove that we are basically the same person. Having our guys cook up some fabulous meals and loving to do it? Win!! Those tacos look amazing! Good job Karl!
June Rnning Streak -Day 3! Yes sir!
Your hubby’s dish looked SO good too. Its such a nice thing to not have to cook all the time!
Awesome job on the run streak! Woohooo
Yay for 7 whole days of running! I didn’t want to do mine today either.
That taco looks wonderful! Holy delicious.
Glad we did it though and kept that streak alive!! I felt better after I ran
They were amazing. I have to say, Karl really knows how to cook!
way to go, Karl! I tried grilled pineapple for the first time (i know, crazy!) a couple of months ago and it was so amazing.
I have a bike, but it needs a tune-up. I am interested in doing a duathalon so I need to get out there!
Awesome job on the running streak!
I wish I had a grill so I could make grilled pineapple more often, you know how good it is!
A duathlon sounds great! Thats sort of what I had in mind when I was picking out my bike. I may want to eventually do one (ah!). Definitely do one!
I am waiting to come back from my work trip to chop up my pineapple! Yum! I have been delaying purchasing a bike but it looks so much fun!
Pineapples are my fav summer fruit! I’m not into watermelon so this is it for me. Glad you love em too
GREAT job on your running streak!!!
Thanks so much! Some days are easier than others haha
Isn’t that the truth. Those good days make all those crappy runs so worth it.
Love swordfish! That taco does look amazing – & I love your how I met your mother reference
my fav show EVER!
I forgot how much I liked swordfish until this weekend! Its so good grilled.
Haha HIMYM is the BEST! Makes me laugh so much. I can’t wait to find out who the mother is.
I can’t wait to see which bike you pick out!! You’ll have to do a triathlon with us sometime!
I’d love to do a triathalon together sometime!! I’m looking forward to adding the bike into my routine and then eventually doing one. Congrats on becoming a TRIATHLETE yourself!!!
Awesome job with the run streak! And also, like the legendary HIMYM reference
Thanks!! I like to throw in the HIMYM references from time to time. Love that show!
