Today’s Workout: Physical Therapy
First of all, check out my guest post on Katie’s blog. Plus, read her blog in general… she’s awesome!!
Hope everyone had a great Fourth of July yesterday (to my American friends or any foreign friends who celebrated too!)! I usually do my Three Things Thursday posts today so I figured in honor of the holiday I would make this a themed post and also get to tell you a little bit about how I celebrated. Here’s the three best three hings about my Fourth:
*********
1. THE VIEW: Karl and I hosted a party on our roof deck with some friends. We are lucky enough to have a fantastic view of the city from Brooklyn so we took advantage. Actually, Karl sat outside from around 10am to secure the best seats on the roof so we would have a nice view for the Macy’s fireworks.
I worked out, ran 2 miles (yay!) and ran errands in the morning to get supplies and food. Trader Joe’s had patriotic chips so of course I had to get them. Basically this was a team effort from me and Karl for this party.. so worth it!
2. THE COMPANY: We had a bunch of friends and co-workers over for the party, plus some family. My sisters came by and we all had a great time together. My sister’s and I always have fun no matter where we are, seriously we can make a game out of anything. So yesterday we played a drinking game by watching the cars on the BQE. We drank every time we saw a taxi… ended up with 40 of them in 10 minutes. Although it sounds like it could be boring, this was such a fun game because of the company. When the three of us are together its always ridiculous!!
3. THE FOOD AND DRINKS: We had a ton of snacks and food, as well as drinks. I got chips and everything for all our guests but tried to keep it relatively healthy with some hummus, carrots, and pretzels. Plus I knew I would be drinking sangria so I didn’t want to go TOO crazy. But I’ll admit I had some pizza, couldn’t resist! The best part was the sangria for me, some friends made it yesterday and it soaked overnight. It came out amazing, I was in love! We also had a ton of beer but I didn’t go for any. Sangria for me on a super hot day.. and some sunscreen for my pastiness.
Three favorite holiday indulgences:
1. Cookies
2. Hamburger
3. Chips and guacamole
Three favorite types of fireworks that are now illegal in NYC (like everything else is):
1. Sparklers – remind me of my childhood!
2. Firecrackers
3. Smoke bombs
Three favorite summer adult drinks:
1. Sangria
2. Mojito
3. Ice cold light beer, preferably at a baseball game
Tell me about your holiday! What did you do?
Do you live in a place where fireworks are legal? Which ones did you have?
Answer any of the three things questions above!

What a fun day you had! The views are amazing and glad you had such a great time with family and friends! My 3 favorite holiday indulgences are Dessert, Appetizers, and Lots of Stuffing!
hope you’re staying cool!
Thanks!! Yummm stuffing.. I can’t wait for the holidays so I can eat some of that!
Your pictures are gorgeous!! I also LOVE Sangria & Mojitos. You have me aching for cookies now though
Thanks! Sangria and mojitos are SO refreshing in the summer.
Look like you had a great fourth! I think roof decks are so cool, you have such nice views, I’m a little jealous! My husband and I ran a 5K in the morning, then went to his parents for the day. Fireworks are legal in NH, my father always get a bunch (we’re talking 1K worth) for their annual party and they look professional! My favorites have to be the ones that crackle after they go off
The views are one of the reasons I’m afraid to move to another apartment haha. So awesome you ran a 5K, I’m going to try to fun one next Fourth. I think its a great way to celebrate. You are SO lucky about fireworks, 1k worth?!! I definitely need to see that party in action haha
Yea my father is a little crazy when it comes to fireworks, he saves all year for it!
love the pictures
)) the sangria did me in yesterday though, i almost fell asleep on your couch. lol… i had such a great fourth of july with you sissy! can’t wait to hang out again this weekend.
haha I know! I felt bad when you had to leave
Amazing sangria pitcher. I make sangria all of the time (red or white, I like them both) but don’t have any huge containers to soak my fruit. I will have to look into that!
It was a good investment! we got it from Bed Bath and Beyond!
Ohh…I just got a coupon in the mail today. I will have to check it out!
Your day sounds like it was absolutely PERFECT! Wow, those views from the roof top are absolutely breathtaking. I am beyond jealous :-X
**Also, I just recently started my own blog. Check it out!
It was a great day
Thanks! Your blog is great by the way!
I just went with my BF to watch fireworks in Downtown OKC. It was pretty uneventful. My three indulgences: 1. Pizza 2. Chocolate Chip Cookies 3.Cheesecake
Sometimes its nice to have a laid-back holiday! Hope you enjoyed it
So, so jealous of the views from your roof deck!!
Sangria is the bomb dot com. Peter wrote a Drinking Game book – I will have to tell him about this one. I had a great roof deck in Boston with views of their fireworks – this makes me miss that apartment!!!
Haha let him know, its good for the city! Roof decks are the best.. I sometimes take mine for granted so it was good to use it for the fireworks. Didn’t know you lived in Boston! Thats awesome
Wow! That skyline is amazing! So is that sangria
Sounds like an amazing day! That sangria looks amazing, I’ve only had sangria a few times and it is really good!
Wow you have an amazing rooftop view!!! Which part of Brooklyn are you in? We are in Park Slope!
I live in Downtown Brooklyn/Brooklyn Heights-ish area. The roof deck is the best part of the space! You are so nearby, I LOVE park slope!
I LOVE the red, white and blue Empire State Building! That’s so awesome! Mine was low-key but my choice so it was okay. I was wearing my Sweat Pink tank the other day too – in order to move… which almost counts as a workout! Happy 4th!
Represent Sweat Pink!! Hope your move is going well
Holy moly that view is breathtaking – especially at sunset!! Good food & good company always makes for a lovely holiday!
