My weekend was full of good food, running, and trying to relax before another long week at work!
SATURDAY:
Unfortunately, I was still feeling a bit under the weather Saturday morning so I wasn’t able to make it to NYC Summer Streets again. Plus, it was raining and I didn’t want to risk this cold getting any worse.
By the afternoon though the sun came out and I was feeling good enough to lace up my super pink running shoes for a 3.5 mile run around Brooklyn. This was my first run in about a week, I wasn’t able to for so long because I was feeling so sick. The first run back is always the best I think and I really was happy to be out there, even though my nose is still a bit stuffy. Oh well, I can live with that.
Here’s some of the sights from my run..
I always love running by the Manhattan and Brooklyn bridges, it never gets old. The only problem is that its super crowded on weekends, plus theres tons of people taking wedding photos, so I end up running around people the whole time! But this view isn’t too shabby.
After my first run back from being sick (yay!), I went out for dinner with Karl and some of our friends at a restaurant in Brooklyn called Alma. Its has an amazing view of the city since its down by the waterfront. And my dish was really good.. grilled shrimp with corn tortillas. Plus a sangria or two to wash it down

SUNDAY:
Sunday morning I met up with Katherine for a run along the East River. She has been really sick too for the past week so we decided to run as much as we felt comfortable with/able to. I’m so glad we met up because it really helped with my motivation having a partner!
We ran about 4 miles together and I finished up another 3 by myself for a total of 7 miles. This was the distance I had in my training plan for this week, so I’m not behind even though I missed some of my short runs. In general my body felt really good today despite not being able to breathe as well as usual because of my stuffy nose. It was super nice out too, sunny and cool for the summer with a light breeze. So nice!
Here’s some of what I saw on my run:
For the rest of the day Sunday Karl and I went to Park Slope to walk around and enjoy the neighborhood, as well as get some Bare Burger for lunch. Amazing as usual! Then we explored Prospect Park a bit and hung out there. There was a food truck rally at the park today too, and I would have totally been all over that except I was stuffed from lunch. But it looked like fun, Brooklyn always has such cool events.
Afterwards we headed home for movie time. Now its time to prepare for another work week.
What did you do this weekend?
Did you get any runs or workouts in? Tell me about em!
Have any good food?

I love your shoes!!! I’m dying for a new pair of bright sneaks (even though I have two perfectly good pairs of shoes at home already).
This weekend I made it out on my longest distance yet– 10 miles. So excited!
Kudos for getting back out there after being sick.
Thanks!! Haha the bright ones are so fun, plus when you are a runner its okay to have funky colors!
Awesome job on your 10 miles.. Wohoo!!
I love running on the East River Path! One of my favorite places to run in the city!
Agreed, its so so pretty there!
We are having a heat wave, and it’s just so much hotter than we are used to. I got up early yesterday morning for a 10km run. After that, we went out for brunch.
Ugh I’m so over the heat, can’t wait for cooler weather. Nice job on your run.. thats great!
VITAMIN C!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am taking a day off from running with that calf pain. The weather was great for running this weekend.
Smart move taking some time off! Don’t push it. Feel better girl
Im from PA, and I took a long weekend up to New England and ran the Providence Half Marathon. It was awesome. Great COOL summer running weather. Lots of craft beer drinking too
are you running the color run next weekend?
Thats amazing!! Congrats on your half marathon! Must have been a great weekend for a race.
I’m not running the color run
I missed Saturday registration unfortunately. Did you run it?!
I finally did 6 miles again since July. It felt easy and great! Now I know I can up it some more. Rock philly very soon! No great food but went to a Riversharks game and had a blast. Couldn’t tell you the score though! I would love to run around NYC when I was there in the beginning of August I saw so many runners out. So inspiring!
Amazing! Its such a good feeling getting back to running after a break, congrats
Rock Philly looks so cool I can’t wait to hear about it!
Cool photos! And running through weddings sounds fun, you should do a random jump in front of them while they are trying to take a group photo, will make a great story for them about the crazy running girl who crashed their photo
such a great running route you have. I always enjoy your photos.
I gave you a shout out on my multitude monday;)
I ran a 10K race on Sunday, it was a fun and easy-ish run!

So jealous of your awesome city scenery on your runs. I just have houses to start at most of the time haha Didn’t get all my miles in this weekend but got a 4.5 mile and 2 mile in anyway. Good enough for me! Yesterday was the last trail race of the summer series I am doing and I’m kinda sad. I’m thinking of signing up for their winter series or even joining there running club. Great job on the 7 mile run! Also, that plate looks delicious! I went out with friends on Sunday for dinner and had the most delicious burger. It was perfectly juicy and seasoned and loaded with goodies!
