Its Thursday.. which means its the day for one of my most favorite posts: Three Things Thursday!
1. I had some amazingly funny/entertaining/awesome search terms that led people to my blog in the past few weeks. I know people liked when I shared some last time so I figured I’d do it again. Also, I have to tell someone what people Google because it makes me laugh. Here’s some of the best ones:
- exercise it band while cleaning
- even after 6 weeks, it band strikes when do elliptical
- lack of sleep due to olympics
- i can’t study
- i’m loving my new bike
- pink does she drink shakeology
- marathon 19 degrees tights or shorts
Its tough for me, but my favorite is the first one.. “exercise IT Band while cleaning.” First of all, the IT Band can’t be exercised because it isn’t a muscle, and second I don’t think I ever talked about exercises while cleaning since I hate cleaning and hardly do it. But whoever this was, thank you for your Google search and I hope you found what you were really looking for (probably not my blog haha)!
2. So this week my exercise and running was virtually non-existent until today. A weird thing happened to me this week: I was sick. First of all, I never ever ever ever get sick. Did I mention never? It happens once every few years and of course it chose to hit me in the middle of the summer. I go all winter being healthy and avoiding illness while the rest of the world is sick, but in August it hits me. What gives?!
Of course I freaked out and overloaded on Vitamin C, medicine, and tea. I didn’t get much rest though because fieldwork has been kicking my butt. I didn’t have the energy to run nor did I think it was a good idea, even though I wanted to. I had to practice some serious self-restraint though to do that (I swear my Brooks were calling my name, or maybe it was too much cold medicine…)
I credit some of my recovery to this awesome new tea from Sun Chlorella USA called Infuse Your Mood. They contacted me recently to review their tea and it came at the right time. I am going to talk about this product more in depth soon (and maybe host a giveaway
but I will say that its really fantastic and helped me a bunch. Yay for good herbal tea!
3. I experimented for the first time with overnight oats! I had never heard of this before but read about them on a bunch of blogs and finally tried it out. I put some oats, Fage greek yogurt, skim milk, chia seeds, cinnamon, and a packet of truvia sweetener. I liked it but I think I need to play around with it more before I share the recipe with everyone. I really like that it is super filling and also that I can make it and eat it over a few days since is stays in the fridge.
I can’t wait to keep playing around with a recipe and, when I come up with one I love, I’ll share it with you all! Do you recommend any specific recipes or ingredients?
Three new things I did this week
1. Started an Instagram account (@runlikeagrl). Follow me and I’ll love you forever ![]()
2. Took a cab to work instead of the subway. I was sick so it was necessary. Oh, and its SO much faster.
3. Signed up for the rest of my 9+1 NYRR races

Three favorite foods at the moment
1. Love Grown Foods Granola: cocoa goodness flavor. Love.
2. Clif Bar: Gary’s Panforte flavor
3. Chia seeds

Three plans for the weekend
1. Run some distance. I miss running.
2. Ride my bike somewhere that someone can’t hit into me this time.
3. Spend time outside and go to a park.

So true ![]()
Tell me three things about your day!
Answer any of the three things questions above.

I never get sick either but I had a bad cold this week which sucks since I have a half-marathon on Saturday
I’m feeling better so I should be okay for the race. I’m traveling all the way to Iceland for this one so I’m not missing it!! Have a great weekend
Oh no!! Everyone’s getting sick lately its so weird. Hopefully you are tip top for your half… I didn’t realize your Iceland race was so close!! Good luck girl you will do awesome. Can’t wait to see some photos from the race
I love Kombucha tea…hot and cold…it’s supposed to be good for the immune system too.
I’ve been meaning to try the overnight oats too!
Never had Kombucha hot, only in cold drinks! I should try that.
That’s funny, I plan on doing the 3 exact same things this weekend…plus not sleeping 20hrs a day, after staying home this week, I’m tired of sleeping haha…In two weeks I will regret having said that.
Hahaa, you will definitely miss all that sleep when you are feeling better and are back into the swing of things! Feel better
I’ve been meaning to try overnight oats, but I haven’t mixed up a batch yet. Did you put in ground flaxseed? I love flax in my regular oatmeal.
Those search terms are so funny! It’s amazing what random things can lead people to your blog.
I use a lot of ground flax but I didn’t put that in my overnight oats.. I totally should have done that! I’ll add that to my next batch.. thanks for the tip
I hope it’s nice this weekend. I want to spend as much time outside as possible!
Me too! Praying the rain stays away.
Despite the rain I still got in a long run this morning. As soon as I finish, the sun came out. Go figure!
Three things about Thursday….1) my sister joined me for Zumba and then convinced me to do Hip Hop after, I am still a ballerina at heart but I managed haha 2)Hip Hop really made me miss dance more and I think I will try their Adult Jazz class in a few weeks 3) Work was looong and last past 5. Dislike those days. Looking forward to weekend running too! Have a great weekend!
SO awesome you are getting back into dance classes… you must be so happy to be back in your element! Have a great weekend
1)I follow you on instagram now:)
2) I am going zip-lining tomorrow
3) I have tried overnight oats and I am just not a fan. Maybe your recipe will change my mind:)
Thanks so much!
SO jealous of your ziplining, its on my list of things I really really want to do! Have fun!
I love herbal tea – I will definitely have to try that brand!
Glad you are feeling better! I hate getting sick during the summer – definitely the worst!
Are you going to Summerstreets tomorrow?
Thanks girl! Feeling a lot better today thankfully. I should be at summer streets at some point tomorrow if it doesn’t rain (hopefully)! Probably early around 8ish. Are you going?!
I miss running too! It has been about 2 weeks since i broke my toe (major bummer) and I am trying to let it heal. I am doing an awesome bike ride tomorrow (called Urban Assult) that looks to be a BLAST. And…on the overnight oat front…I like them…this is one of my favorite recipes from Oh She Glows!…

But I LOVE the Dough Boy Smoothies (from KERF) which is overnight oats ina blender. I make them with every fruit imaginable (even cranberry) but the sweet potato and pumpkin are my favorite.

Have fun with your breakfast and enjoy your long runs!
I have become obsessed with over night oats! Sometimes I use a flavored packet of high fiber or just a yummy flavor. Last week I forgot to add milk or water so it was super thick but I really liked it! I’m obsessed with peanut butter so that makes its way in there. Also cinnamon too! fruit on the top and any type of chobani or oikos goes great! the possibilities are really endless. Chia seeds yum!!
I love running, I hate running, I love running- haha, that sums up how I feel about running too. Although lately it’s been more love than hate. When my shins start hurting or I overexert myself and start limping around, it’ll turn into hate!! (But even when I’m limping around, I’m okay with it cause it makes me feel hardcore- messed up!)
I LOVE those google search terms, people get to my blog in some really interesting ways too!
I really want to try overnight oats, but I haven’t had the opportunity to yet. I probably should!
