Sweet Treats & Living in Luxury (for a few hours, anyway)

Running update: I ran 4 miles today and have 11 planned for tomorrow. I’ll keep you posted on how it goes :)

For the past few days when I walk to the subway to go home from work, I pass by this little cupcake shop called Baked by Melissa. They sell little bite sized cupcakes that all look really cute and colorful. I finally decided to go in and buy some this week to try them out. Not only are they adorable looking, but they are great for portion control since they are minis (I need something to help control myself when it comes to sweets). Plus they taste really good and have really cool flavors!

Little bite sized babies!

Apparently you can go to the website too and make custom cupcakes that you can have delivered, which I think is so cool! If you have one nearby, check it out!

I also had another food first this week: Salted Caramel Mocha from Starbucks. I’ve seen this drink for a while and have wanted to try it since it seemed to have a great fall-ish flavor (my FAV season). I am in love with this drink and have been thinking about it ever since. I need to have another. I love the salt on top and the flavor is so tasty! I don’t drink coffee often, but this one I can totally do. Go grab yourself one!

The other night Karl and I got free luxury box tickets to the Met game (note: I’m a Yankee fan but I never turn down free baseball tickets). This stuff never happens to me so I was really excited! Of course my first thought was: Will there be free food? I love food as you probably know. Since the Mets aren’t doing too hot either I figured the game would be a blowout, so we might as well have some good munchies. Well, we got that and then some!

We arrived to the stadium around the first inning, so it was already dark out. As a Yankee fan this isn’t easy for me to say, but I honestly like Citi Field more than the new Yankee Stadium. I think the architecture is a lot cooler and its fun inside. Plus, I love the arches and brick wall behind home plate.

The stadium at night.. so pretty.

We got inside and were directed to these cool Mets elevators that take you to the luxury box floor.
I felt super fancy! When we got into the room, I was in awe. It was huge with couches, tables, TVs, a fully stocked fridge, and tons of food. My favorite part though was the Shake Shack burgers and shakes. Yes, as many of these heavenly burgers as you want.

There are also regular seats outside the box for watching the game. The game itself was basically a blow out, I think the Mets lost 9-1 or something but I enjoyed hanging out and enjoying being there while sipping on my chocolate Shake Shack milkshake (yum!). We also had the Giants game on the TVs in the box to keep track of how they were doing.

Yay for baseball!

Another big thing happened to me that night. Besides it being my first time in a luxury box, I caught my first foul ball! Well I didn’t catch it per se, it was hit into the seats next to us and I ran and picked it up. But I still count it as a catch! It was a nice little souvenir to go on the top of my dresser.

My foul ball!

Even though I was really tired at work the next day, going to this game was totally worth it. Those seats will probably never be available to me again so it was a really memorable experience!

Have you ever been to a baseball game? What are the best seats you’ve had?
Have you tried any new food lately?
Whats your favorite fall drink?

  1. Fall is my favorite season too! I’m going to my first Tiger’s game on Tuesday & I’m really excited. I’ve been a Michigander for quite a few years now so it’s high time. Good luck on your 11 miles tomorrow-you’ll do great!

  2. Dang. Congrats on that ball catch. Awesome.

  3. Silvia

Favourite fall drink? Either fresh, unpasteurized apple juice or Federweisser (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Federweisser).

  4. That’s awesome!! catching the foul ball, anddd the good food. Sounds like a great evening, and free at that!

  5. Hi Megan I recently started following your blog and I love it! I’m so jealous that you have such cute cupcakes nearby and that you caught a foul ball at the game, I’ve always wanted to do that! I sat right near the dugout for a portion of a game once because there was a rain delay and so many people left that we were able to move. My favorite fall drink is the caramel apple cider from Starbucks.

    • Maureen thanks so much for following my blog :) Thats so awesome you sat near the dugout, thats always been a dream of mine too. Love when you can move your seat at games!

Doesn’t starbucks have the best fall drinks?!! Love it!

  6. Omg I Loooove Baked by Melissa! They are so good and you can try a bunch and not feel guilty because eating 4 is like eating one regular cupcake! And yes, Salted Caramel mocha from Starbucks is delicious, have you tried their new salted caramel mocha cake pops yes? AMAZING!

  7. Looks like you had an awesome time at the game! Mike and I used to go to a Yankees game every year (or more than one) but we haven’t been in a little while. We have been down where they bring you your food, haha, right behind home plate before.

I love pumpkin flavored drinks, but that salted caramel mocha sounds delicious!

  8. I’ve been to plenty of baseball games as my husband is big into baseball. We used to go to 3-4 games a year but now that we have more expenses we’ve only done 1 a year. The best seats (and most expensive) that we have had were up on the Budweiser Deck at Fenway, you get waited on and get to sit a table and have a great view of the whole game.

Favorite fall drink has to be cider! I actually didn’t like it until I went to college so I can’t get enough of it! (I had tried it once as a child didn’t like it and never tried it again till college)

    Those cupcakes look delicious!

  9. I’ve been to a few baseball games, Fenway, Camden Yards (beautiful place) and the old Nat’s stadium (RFK). I love cupcakes, and I had that Starbucks drink last year, so yummy!! I love salted caramel everything.

  10. I have to try the salted caramel mocha now. you’ve given me the final push. And those cupcakes are crazy cute. I love the toppings.

  11. Congrats on catching the ball!! Thats a good luck!!
Those cupcakes are just so yummy!!
