Sorry for being MIA this week, I actually had some health issues that caused a little bit of an mess for me. Without getting much into it, it involved my kidneys and was moderately serious. But everything is okay now and I’m almost back to normal! I will say though that what I learned is that its SO important to hydrate, listen to your body, and see a doctor if you feel like something just isn’t right. Your health always comes FIRST!
Because of all the craziness this week, I haven’t been able to run since last Sunday. Unfortunately this couldn’t have come at a worse time, since my RTB Relay is next weekend and it ruined the last week of my training plan. But I’ve decided just to make the best of it. I’ve already built the mileage and should be okay on that end, and I’ve accepted that my pace may suffer. Although I’m a little frustrated about that… life happens! I’m just really excited to run 200 miles with my teammates next weekend
So today I went for my first run in a week now that I’m feeling better. I got in 3 nice, easy miles on the treadmill since it was raining. Not a ran of running when its cold and rainy! Cold is fine but rain isn’t my thing. I didn’t push it too much in my run today but felt pretty good. I’m still deciding how many miles I should put in this week before the relay. I want to get some in but don’t want to overdo it and set myself back. Any suggestions?
And now I have a smoothie recipe for you all! A little while back, the AMAZING people at Green&Black’s Organic Chocolate (aka my favorite chocolate ever) sent me a few of their flavors to incorporate into my refueling. I decided to use the Mint flavor today to spruce up my post-run recovery drink.
Also, I was sent a new Vega One powder to test out and decided it was time to use that today too. What I used was a sample of their new French Vanilla.. yum! I wasn’t expecting anything less but have to say this flavor is delicious. It might just be their best yet, plus it has the usual vitamins and minerals that all Vega products have. I am in love with this! If you haven’t already tried Vega products, you should. They rock
Mint French Vanilla Chia Smoothie Recipe
1 serving packet of Vega French Vanilla
Directions: Blend together! Add in ice at the end to make it cooler.
Its brown-ish because of the chocolate, but trust me it tastes delicious!
